Cake Smash Gallery Using Printed Backdrops

Updated: Jul 14, 2025

This is a fun and colourful way to celebrate your baby’s first birthday.

We create playful settings and capture real moments — smiles, curiosity, and the joy of being one.

Every stage of the session is designed to keep your child happy and engaged while giving you a beautiful set of images to remember this milestone.

Fabric backdrops help create a cheerful, vibrant atmosphere. They also enhance the overall look of your photos, keeping the session feeling fresh and fun.

For this lovely session, mum selected multiple printed backdrops to add variety without slowing things down. Each scene was prepped in advance using a layering system — so we could switch backdrops in seconds and keep the flow going.

The Session is Split into 3 Parts

●     Smash time! When we bring in the cake and let your baby dive in!

●     … and splash - a chance to relax and splash while capturing a few more special photographs.

Once you choose your favourites, we layer them in advance. After we finish one set, you can change your baby`s outfit and share hugs while I will remove the top layer and move on – quick and easy.

Backdrop Tips for Your Cake Smash Session

1. Baby Alone: Choose a backdrop that isn’t too busy. Let your baby stand out. Soft tones or subtle patterns work well.

2. Baby with Cake: This is the fun bit. Go bold with a birthday theme – balloons, bunting or something bright and happy.

3. Splash Session (Optional): If your baby loves to splash, you can either keep the 2nd setup or pick a third for more variety. It's the perfect way to end the session and keep things playful.
